When you’re looking for a coffee place, Lincoln, Nebraska, has great choices, whether you want somewhere to work, meet friends, or just people watch. Here are five of Lincoln’s best coffee shops.
Located on South 11th Street, Cultiva is a cute place with a cool vibe. The coffee menu features a selection of espresso-based brews, elaborate “frou-frou” mixes, and iced coffees, along with some brewed coffee variations. Their coffee beans are prepared at their own roastery in what they call the “bean to bar operation.”
Cultiva also specializes in crepes with scrambled egg varieties such as The Grinch and The Dude; savory crepes like The Big Smokey and The Lineman; and sweet variations such as The Parisian and The Dutch Boy. You’ll also find omelets, sandwiches, and cakes.
The Coffee House
The Coffee House on P Street has cool decor and low lighting which gives it a real laid-back atmosphere. It’s a great place to catch up on some work even when it’s busy. All of their coffees are sourced from Panache Coffee Roasters which has an ethical sustainability and farmer-focused approach.
Along with the regular coffee varieties, you’ll find house specialties such as Vanilla Bean Ginger latte and Irish mocha. The in-house bakery prepares fresh items daily, including sweet and savory croissants, pastries, cookies, and muffins.
Crescent Moon Coffee
An abundance of woodwork and exposed bricks, along with the subtle lighting, give this basement coffee shop in Lincoln’s historic Haymarket district a beautiful relaxed ambiance. Take your own reading material, or select a book from the shelves. Not only do they serve a selection of locally roasted coffees and single origin teas, but you can also get wine, beer, and cocktails.
On the menu are a nice choice of Panini sandwiches, and sweet and savory crepes. Crescent Moon hosts regular live music in the evenings promoting local artists, as well as open mic nights for musical talent, songwriters, and poets.
The Mill Coffee and Tea
From humble beginnings more than 40 years ago, The Mill Coffee and Tea is now located in an old warehouse building in the Haymarket district. The atmosphere is unique, featuring shelves with antique coffee urns and grinders. Model airplanes hanging from the ceiling and an antique motorcycle in the window simply add to the eclectic feel of the place.
The Mill roast their own coffee and stock a selection of fine teas, which can also be bought in bulk over the counter. A selection of locally-made sandwiches, wraps, and baked goods are available.
Destinations Coffee House
Set in an old auto shop on New Hampshire Street, Destinations features beautiful brick walls and exposed ceilings. They offer bottomless brewed coffee, specialist coffees, and selected teas which can be hot or iced. The knowledgeable and friendly baristas are fun to talk to, and this coffee house provides a great alternative to the office as a workspace.
However you like your coffee, and whatever the purpose of your visit, Lincoln’s coffee places provide the perfect venues.
