5 Christmas Shows to Check Out This Season Around Lincoln, NE

Christmas shows in Lincoln, NECelebrate the Christmas season this year with some great shows coming to the Lincoln area. Families have plenty of options among plays, concerts, and comedy. And there’s no better way to get the holiday spirit than hearing some classic Christmas songs.

Here are some of the events coming to the stage. Book your tickets before they sell out!

Nutcracker Ballet

The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company and the Nebraska Symphony Chamber Orchestra are putting on one of the most entertaining classic Christmas shows this year. The Nutcracker Ballet has been a staple show during the holidays for decades. This year, almost 200 dance students from southeastern Nebraska will be bringing this Christmas story to the stage.

They have a 7:00 p.m. performance on Friday, December 7 as well as at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on December 8. The show will be held at the main stage at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

A Little House Christmas

Come see the beloved characters of “Little House on the Prairie” on stage! A natural disaster makes the Ingall family wonder about what will happen to Santa and Christmas until a miracle gives them new hope. This will be a heart-warming family Christmas story that the entire family will love.

Showtimes for A Little House Christmas are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays at the Lincoln Community Playhouse.

The Holiday Cabaret

The Nebraska Repertory Theater is putting on a show for the big kids. A “naughty and nice” musical revue, accompanied by a live band and comedy, will entertain guests at the Studio Theatre.

Showtimes are December 13 to 15 at 7:30 p.m. and December 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Harry Connick Jr. 

Harry Connick Jr. will be bringing Christmas favorites to the stage, at the same time celebrating New Orleans’ 300th birthday. Connick started his music career in New Orleans and will be celebrating the culture and history of the Big Easy as well as giving great renditions of holiday classics.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. on December 18 at Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Mannheim Steamroller Christmas

Grammy award-winning Chip Davis will be bringing his music to the Lied Center for a great Christmas show that will feature Steamroller Chrismas classics. Davis will also be playing songs from his Fresh Aire series to add to the already fantastic lineup of recognizable Christmas songs.

There will be two showtimes on December 20: one at 3:00 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m.
