Three Lincoln Breweries You Should Definitely Visit

A flight of beersLincoln and the surrounding area is a beer-lovers paradise. There are lots of great craft breweries where you can sample a variety of beers as well as tour the facilities to learn more about how beer is made. These are some of the best in the region.

Backswing Brewing Company

Backswing Brewing Company got its start on the golf course, when the owners decided that they wanted to find another way to spend time together as in the old days, before life got in the way. They began with what is now their signature IPA and things have only grown from there. Now you can take private tours of the brewery to learn more about the brewing process as well as how the company got started. Tours are available Wednesday to Sunday and you can choose the time that works best for you and your group.

In addition to the Backswing IPA, they also brew a German wheat and malt beer, a crisply finished American yeast ale, and a rich, chocolate-flavored brown ale styled after the English versions.

Blue Blood Brewing Company

Blue Blood Brewing Company is a truly local brewery bar. It was started in 2011 by three friends from the Lincoln Police Department. They are not only passionate about brewing great beer, but about bringing the community together. They have four beers in their main lineup that you can always find when you stop by: ¬†Kompangnon K√∂lsch, Wicked Snout Farmhouse Ale, All Hopped Up IPA, and McKinney’s Irish Pub Ale. They also do seasonal beers such as a stout during the winter, and a pilsner during the summer.

To ensure that Blue Blood Brewing Company remains a community space, the team is always putting on different events to bring people together through their shared love of beer. Their most popular events are the concerts they host at Robber’s Cave. You can also take a tour of the facilities on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Everyone on the tour must be 21 years of age or older.

Boiler Brewing Company

If you want to find a small, family-run establishment in Lincoln that is brewing some seriously great craft beers, look no further than Boiler Brewing Company. Owner, Tim, is always concocting new combinations and testing out different flavors, so those who enjoy unique beers will love the ones featured here. Some of their unique offerings include mead, guava beer, chocolate stout, and barleywine made with rye.

The Boiler Brewing Company know that their strength is beer, so they leave the cooking up to neighboring restaurant, Single Barrel. You can order from the menu while enjoying your beer at Boiler and it will be delivered right to your table, so you can keep sampling beers even when you get hungry. They have options such as burgers, brisket sandwiches, and pulled pork tacos. Ask the bartenders which beers would go best with your meal.

Head to one of these fantastic locally-owned breweries this weekend to enjoy a Lincoln craft beer and to learn more about what it takes to make this popular beverage.
